Goulds Pressure Control Valve - AV22 is a pressure control valve kit, that must be used for all, 3/4 and larger, horizontal deep well dual-pipe jet pump systems. The AV22 Kit includes the AV22 valve, tubing, two compression fittings and a pipe plug. The AV22 has a tapping to connect the new, longer pressure switch tubing. This allows the pressure switch to read the pressure on the outboard side of the valve rather than in the pump casing. Remove the straight or elbow compression fitting from the pump casing. Use the pipe plug in the AV22KIT to plug the hole in the pump casing. Remove the fitting from the pressure switch. Cut the old tubing in half and slide the compression fittings off the old tubing. Note that the fitting will only slide in one direction. You can now reuse the elbow compression fitting with the new tubing at the pressure switch. Screw the new straight connector into the AV22 and attach the tubing from the switch to the AV22.

In a two-pipe deep well jet pump, part of the water is sent back down into the well to increase the pressure and push more water back up to the top. Each well is different based on the depth of the water and the horizontal distance to the well. So it is necessary to adjust the balance between the water that is discharged and the water that is sent back down the well to be recirculated.
